The TCS New York City Marathon carries runners through all five boroughs before its Central Park finish, creating one of the city’s most visible annual sports days. Spectators can cheer free along much of the course as waves move from Staten Island through Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx. Start waves are expected across the morning; individual athlete timing and access points vary. Choose a viewing neighborhood in advance and check official transportation and street-closure guidance, because getting across the course can take longer than usual. The finish area has controlled access, while many neighborhood stretches offer a more flexible spectator experience.
