Skate beneath the golden Prometheus statue at NYC's most famous ice rink, open for the 2026–27 season through late March.
The Rink at Rockefeller Center is New York's most famous ice-skating spot, set in the sunken Lower Plaza beneath the gilded Prometheus statue and, from late November, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.
The 2026–27 season opened October 10, 2026 and runs through the winter; Rockefeller Center has not yet posted a closing date. Skating is by timed session, and tickets sell out on peak holiday dates, so book ahead.
Combine a skate with the Channel Gardens, Fifth Avenue window displays or Top of the Rock nearby.
**Tickets & prices:** General skate from $22; VIP packages from $131 — book at [rockefellercenter.com](https://www.rockefellercenter.com/attractions/the-rink-at-rockefeller-center/).

The story behind The Rink at Rockefeller Center.
Ice skating at Rockefeller Center dates to 1936, and the rink has since become a fixture of New York winters.
Ringed by flags and overlooked by Art Deco towers, it's one of the most photographed public spaces in the city.
It's small, it's busy, and it's absolutely worth it — few winter experiences feel more New York than gliding under Prometheus.
