Saverne

Saverne is the more relaxed second act from Gabriel Kreuther, the Alsatian chef whose Bryant Park flagship holds two Michelin stars. It sits at 531 West 34th Street, on the far west side near Hudson Yards, and takes its name from a town in Alsace — the clue to the cooking. The kitchen is built around a wood-fired hearth, and the menu leans into the food of that border region: tarte flambée, charcuterie, choucroute, whole fish and larger cuts finished over flame, with the kind of technique you would expect from this kitchen but none of the formality of a tasting menu. The wine list looks east too, with Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer given real space alongside Burgundy and Champagne. It is a good pre- or post-event dinner if you are heading to the far west side, and a genuinely warm room in a neighbourhood that can feel glassy and cold. Reservations are available through Resy.
