NYC's largest indoor/outdoor rooftop bar — 18 stories above Times Square with unobstructed Empire State Building views, multiple bars, live DJs, and seasonal pop-ups year-round.
Perched on the 18th floor of Moxy Times Square, Magic Hour is New York City's largest all-season rooftop bar — an indoor/outdoor playground built around an unobstructed view of the Empire State Building. The space sprawls across multiple bars and lounges with live DJs, bar bites, signature cocktails, and a calendar of rotating seasonal takeovers (Camp Magic Hour in summer, a fully heated winter setup when it gets cold). Walk-ins are welcome but reservations are strongly recommended for seated service, especially on weekends. The venue is 21+ except during weekend brunch, which is open to all ages.
The story behind Magic Hour Rooftop.
Magic Hour sits on top of the Moxy Times Square hotel in the heart of Midtown — just blocks from Madison Square Garden, Penn Station, the Theater District, and Times Square itself. The rooftop is designed to work year-round: open-air terraces with skyline views in warm weather, glass-enclosed lounges and heaters in winter. Expect 8 large TVs for major sports moments (World Cup, championship games), themed seasonal installations, and a menu that leans into shareable cocktails and elevated bar food.
It's the rare Times Square-adjacent rooftop that actually delivers the postcard view — the Empire State Building lined up perfectly to the south — without the tourist-trap markup of the observation decks. Get there for the namesake magic hour just before sunset, order a spritz, and watch the city light up.
