New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers

About this event

The Knicks open the 2026–27 NBA season at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, hosting the Philadelphia 76ers at 7 PM ET. It is the first game at the Garden since the Knicks were crowned NBA champions, their first title in 53 years, and by league tradition the reigning champion opens the season at home. The visitors bring their own storyline: NBA.com notes that LeBron James is starting his record 24th season, now with the 76ers. The game is part of NBC and Peacock's three-game opening-day schedule. MSG sits above Penn Station, so the subway and commuter rail are the easiest options.
