Homecoming: For the Harbor

Climate Week NYC 2026 ends with a pep rally for New York Harbor. LMCC, The New York Climate Exchange and Stony Brook University host Homecoming: For the Harbor on Governors Island on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM, free and open to all ages. The day opens with a Climate-Action Tailgate Fair of environmental organizations and hands-on activities, then a people's parade kicks off at 1 PM with the 50-plus member Grand Street Campus Marching Band, cheerleaders, costumed New Yorkers and Stony Brook mascot Wolfie the Seawolf, before a "postgame" party with food outside LMCC's Arts Center. Homecoming is the latest public art project by Minneapolis-based artist Amanda Lovelee, who uses pep rallies and parades to make climate action feel collective and joyful rather than grim. Organizers ask attendees to RSVP and invite everyone to come dressed in their best New York Harbor costume. Governors Island is reached by ferry, so check the ferry schedule before heading out.
